Q1:   What is ESAMI and when was it established?
A1:   The Eastern and Southern African Management Institute was Established in 1980 as an Intergovernmental regional management development centre. The Institute was established with the primary objective of providing high level specialized management training, consultancy executive MBA and action-oriented management research services.
Q2:   Where is ESAMI located and who owns it?
A2:   ESAMI headquarters is located in Arusha, (The Geneva of Africa) Tanzania. ESAMI is owned and used by member governments that presently include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, Seychelles, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.

Other countries which are also major users of ESAMI services include Lesotho, Botswana, Rwanda, Burundi, Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria, Angola, Sierra Leone, Ivory Cost, The Gambia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Liberia and Burkina Faso.
Q3:   How can one reach Arusha, the Headquarters of ESAMI?
A3:   The Institute is located 5 (five) kilometers away from centre town Arusha. It is accessible from Kilimanjaro International Airport (40 kilometers away) or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi (300 kilometers away) Air Tanzania is the most direct flight especially for clients coming from the South. It provides daily flights to Kilimanjaro International Airport and a free shuttle service from the Airport to ESAMI, Arusha.
Q4:   If one is to access your services do you have to call Arusha Headquarters only?
A4:   ESAMI has a network with fully fledged Field offices in Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, Kampala, Harare, Lusaka, Lilongwe, Maputo, Windhoek and Mbabane.

Q7:   Generally what is the fee structure like
A7:   Charges for the open management programmes are based on two criterias:
  • Level of the participants and duration of the course in weeks. The senior the course the higher the cost of participation. At the same time the longer the duration the higher the charge.

    Generally one week programme is charged US600; 2 weeks duration US1,200; 3 weeks duration US$ 1,800 and 4 weeks duration is US$2,240.
Q8:   Does one have to pay tuition fees at ESAMI Headquarters only?
A8:   Tuition fees can be paid in any of the Field offices indicated above apart from ESAMI Headquarters.
Q9:   What other facilities do you provide at ESAMI Headquarters?
A9:   After arrival at Njiro Hill, participants will have access to a number of facilities. These range from excellent accommodation with self contained rooms with multi-channel TV services, Health services, delicious meals, laundry services, library ad documentation centre, bar services, sports facilities which include darts, volleyball, table tennis, football, chess, draught, scrabble etc.
Q10:   Once I identify a course of my interest what is the Admissions procedure?
A10:   Once you identify a course of your interest, you will fill in an admission form which is available on our website and thereafter submit the same electronically. The admission office will go through the application and send over to you detailed letter of admission to you either electronically or by fax depending on the fastest means available at that particular time.
