ACCREDITATION OF ESAMI MBA
ESAMI is an intergovernmental Organization owned by 10 member states. All the countries (Kenya, Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia, Tanzania, Uganda, Seychelles, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe) signed the Charter establishing ESAMI in October 1979. This Charter was endorsed by the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
This Charter stipulates that one of the Institute functions is to “offer appropriate examination courses and certification in management fields. Pursuant to this function, the Governing Board of ESAMI comprising Permanent/Principal Secretaries of the 10 member states caused an independent study on the capacity and capability of ESAMI to perform this function to be undertaken. Having satisfied themselves as to ESAMI’s capacity and capability, the Governing Board granted a Charter to award degrees on the 17th November 1998. Subsequently, ESAMI commenced MBA programme in February 1999. To date, all 10 member states have recognized and accredited the ESAMI MBA. These countries include Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, Seychelles, Swaziland, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
